Marjorie

Meaning & origin

English form of Margaret, a name taken from the Latin into German, in medieval times, by the name of St. Margaret of Antioch (3rd and 4th centuries). The Greek word "Margarites" is perhaps originally from Persian, meaning "child of light" (according to the presentation of the pearl as a dew-drop, which was changed by moonlight)
