Aquaman

Meaning & origin

The name Aquaman is a masculine name from the United States meaning “man of the water.” It is best known as the name of a DC Comics superhero created by Mort Weisinger and Paul Norris, who made his first appearance in More Fun Comics #73 in November 1941. As a given name Aquaman was long unheard of, until the American internet personality Trisha Paytas and Moses Hacmon gave it to their son in July 2025, which drew international press coverage. It remains a very rare choice, strongly tied to the sea and to a heroic figure.
